Bearing Capacities

  • Bearings are rated on both their Static (non-rotating) and Dynamic (rotating) capacities.
  • Bearings are selected such that a Static Applied Load of up to twice the Safe Working Load can be applied without doing permanent bearing damage.

Bearing Life

Bearing life is determined by its Dynamic Capacity and the typical load applied during pullback call the "Applied Load".  The DUB Swivel bearings are designed to have typical average life of 250 hours when operated under a continuous Applied Load equal to the swivel Safe Working Load, however:

  1. As the Applied Load is increased the bearing life is decreased
  • At 110% Safe Working Load, the bearing life is 75%
  • At 125% Safe Working Load, the bearing life is 51%
  • At 150% Safe Working Load, the bearing life is 30%
  • At 200% Safe Working Load, the bearing life is 13%

    2.   As the Applied Load is decreased, the              bearing life is increased

  • At 90% Safe Working Load, the bearing life is 140%
  • At 75% Safe Working Load, the bearing life is 240%
  • At 50% Safe Working Load, the bearing life is 800%

When a DUB Swivel is operated under a typical load cycle, the predicted life is approximately 1400 hrs.  Predicted bearing lives assumes that the bearings are kept clean, cool and properly lubricated.  It is our recommendation to always select a swivel with a capacity rating higher then that of your machine.
