{"id":2799,"date":"2016-06-07T11:38:10","date_gmt":"2016-06-07T18:38:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dcddesign.com\/blog\/?p=2799"},"modified":"2016-06-07T11:38:10","modified_gmt":"2016-06-07T18:38:10","slug":"breakaway-connector-applications","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dcddesign.com\/blog\/breakaway-connector-applications\/","title":{"rendered":"Breakaway Connector Applications"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As I\u2019m sure you are aware by now, DCD Design has had great success in the application of our Breakaway Connectors\/Swivels in many markets outside of the Utility and Cable Installation Industry in which we are so widely known.<\/p>\n<p>The Breakaway Connectors are used in many different industries including Marine, Naval, Mining, Aviation and Environmental Applications to name a few. To read more about these applications, please visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breakawayconnector.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.breakawayconnector.com<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The newest utilization comes from Kris at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amecfw.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Amec Foster Wheeler<\/a>, Environment &#038; Infrastructure, Inc. Amec Foster Wheeler works in consultancy, engineering, project management, operations and construction services within the environmental &#038; infrastructure markets.<\/p>\n<p>The application involves installing a number of <em>Weirs<\/em> for one of their customer using the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dcddesign.com\/breakaway-swivels-connectors.htm#wirebreakawayswivel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">00551 Series Wire Breakaway Swivel<\/a> in a storm drain system to prevent property damages from potential clogged storage drains. Kris had this to say about our breakaway swivels:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cEngineers became concerned about flooding after an unusual summer storm last year caused quite a bit of property damage (clogged storm drains) and asked us to make the weirs so that if a storm event did occur they would break away.
